THE DIVINE FATHER-SON RELATIONSHIP WITHIN THE GODHEAD
Since 2012, we have been faithfully studying and understanding the Holy Scriptures about who is GOD, who is JESUS, and who (or what) is the Holy SPIRIT, by reading it in context and by praying in tongues of God's Spirit.
Trinitarian and Unitarian doctrines on the Godhead
Nowadays there are two prevalent doctrines on the Godhead in mainstream Christianity: Trinitarianism and Unitarianism.
Trinitarianism is a quite confusing concept about the Godhead that affirms that there is "One God" made up of three eternally coexisting and coequal beings, with different roles—"God the Father", "God the Son", and "God the Holy Spirit".
Unitarianism is another quite confusing concept about the Godhead that affirms that God is only one eternally existing being manifested in three different forms and roles, as "the Father" and "the Son" and "the Holy Spirit".
In our opinion, both Trinitarians and Unitarians believe and understand God in a very mysterious, complicated metaphorical way.
Our understanding about the Godhead
Jesus once prayed to his Father saying that God's revelations were hidden from those who think themselves wise and clever, and revealed only to the childlike and simple ones:
"At that same time Jesus was filled with the joy of the Holy Spirit, and he said, “O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, thank you for hiding these things from those who think themselves wise and clever, and for revealing them to the childlike. Yes, Father, it pleased you to do it this way.
“My Father has entrusted everything to me. No one truly knows the Son except the Father, and no one truly knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.”"
Luke 10:21-22
Contrary to the complicated Trinitarian and Unitarian doctrines, we understand God in a very clear, simple literal way.
We both believe today in a simple Binitarian or Dualistic Godhead made up of two divine beings: GOD the Father–the Eternal and Creator of all things–; and the Lord JESUS–the Son and Messiah of his literal Father–who also created the Heavens and the Earth on behalf of his Father.
The Source, the Channel and the Glory
In fact, GOD the FATHER is the eternal Source of everything. And from him comes forth JESUS the SON, who is his eternal Channel and Living Word or Spokesperson.
And from the Father and the Son proceeds the HOLY SPIRIT, which is in fact their eternal glory and presence and power. (We cover more about the Holy Spirit at the end of this Bible study.)
A Dualistic Biblical Godhead
According to the Scriptures, the Godhead is composed of GOD the Father and JESUS the Lord. The apostle Paul made it very simple and clear when he wrote:
"But for us, there is one God, the Father, by whom all things were created, and for whom we live. And there is one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things were created, and through whom we live."
1 Corinthians 8:6
"There is one Lord [Jesus Christ], one faith, one baptism, and one God and Father of all, who is over all, in all, and living through all."
Ephesians 4:5-6
Jesus once said to the Jews who were accusing him of making claims about himself, that He was a witness and his Father who sent him and was with him in Spirit was the other witness, making his testimony valid according to God's Law. Jesus made it clear in this passage that He and the Father are two separate persons or entities; and He did not mention neither consider the Holy Spirit as a third witness or person:
"The Pharisees replied, “You are making those claims about yourself! Such testimony is not valid.” Jesus told them, “These claims are valid even though I make them about myself. For I know where I came from and where I am going, but you don’t know this about me.
"0You judge me by human standards, but I do not judge anyone. And if I did, my judgment would be correct in every respect because I am not alone. The Father who sent me is with me. Your own Law says that if two people agree about something, their witness is accepted as fact. I am one witness, and my Father who sent me is the other.”
John 8:13-18
Greetings from the Apostles in the name of a dualistic Godhead
The Apostles knew very well who the components of the Godhead are. This is why they mentioned God the Father and Jesus the Lord in most of their greetings to the brothers and sisters in the faith, at the beginning of their letters.
We notice that in their greetings they mention only two persons -Father God and the Lord Jesus-, and not three persons since they do not include the Holy Spirit. Also, they don't acknowledge only the person of Jesus Christ, but also the person of God the Father. And the Father is always mentioned first in all their greetings, as a sign of full authority and respect:
"May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace."
Romans 1:7b
1 Corinthians 1:3
2 Corinthians 1:2
Galatians 1:3
Ephesians 1:2
Philippians 1:2
2 Thessalonians 1:2
Titus 1:4b
Philemon 1:3
"May God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord give you grace, mercy, and peace."
1 Timothy 1:2b
2 Timothy 1:2b
"May God give you more and more grace and peace as you grow in your knowledge of God [the Father] and Jesus our Lord."
2 Peter 1:2
"Grace, mercy, and peace, which come from God the Father and from Jesus Christ—the Son of the Father—will continue to be with us who live in truth and love."
2 John 1:3
The Father is the Lord God Almighty, and Jesus is the Christ and Lord and Lamb
Throughout the Scriptures, the FATHER is represented most of the time as God, the Lord God, the God Almighty, the Most High, the LORD (ADONAI, Yahweh, Eternal I AM). And JESUS or Yahshua (Yahweh's Salvation) is represented most of the time as the Christ (Messiah or God's Anointed One), and also as the Lord and Lamb:
"When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to him and said, “I am El-Shaddai—‘God Almighty' (the Father). Serve me faithfully and live a blameless life."
Genesis 17:1
"Then they will learn that you (the Father) alone are called the LORD (Yahweh–'Eternal I AM'), that you alone are the Most High, supreme over all the earth."
Psalms 83:18
“So let everyone in Israel know for certain that God [the Father] has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, to be both Lord and Messiah (Christ or Anointed One)!”
Acts of the Apostles 2:36
"When they heard the report, all the believers lifted their voices together in prayer to God [the Father]: “O Sovereign LORD (Yahweh–'Eternal I AM'), Creator of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them— you spoke long ago by the Holy Spirit through our ancestor David, your servant, saying, ‘Why were the nations so angry? Why did they waste their time with futile plans? The kings of the earth prepared for battle; the rulers gathered together against the LORD (the Father) and against his Messiah (Jesus).’"
Acts of the Apostles 4:24-26
"Then the seventh angel blew his trumpet, and there were loud voices shouting in heaven: “The world has now become the Kingdom of our LORD (the Father) and of his Christ (Jesus), and he (God) will reign forever and ever [with Jesus].”
Revelation 11:15
"I saw no temple in the city, for the Lord God Almighty (the Father) and the Lamb (Jesus) are its temple. And the city has no need of sun or moon, for the glory of God [the Father] illuminates the city, and [Jesus] the Lamb is its light."
Revelation 21:22-23
"Then the angel showed me a river with the water of life, clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God (the Father) and of the Lamb (Jesus). No longer will there be a curse upon anything. For the throne of God and of the Lamb will be there, and God's servants will worship him (the Father). And they will see his face, and his name will be written on their foreheads. And there will be no night there—no need for lamps or sun—for the Lord God (the Father) will shine on them. And they will reign forever and ever."
Revelation 22:1, 3-5
Two different beings with equal Spirit and Power
The Father and the Son are two different beings, but both are equal in divine nature. That is to say that Jesus has the same divine Spirit and Power as his Father. In reality they are two different beings with the same divine and powerful nature, independent of each other, and with free will.
The Father is Eternal. Jesus is the Firstborn of all creation and among the dead
According to the Scriptures, God the Father is Eternal, that is, He has always existed and has never died nor will He ever die:
"Before the mountains were born, before you gave birth to the earth and the world, from beginning to end, you [LORD] are God."
Psalms 90:2
"Your throne, O LORD [God the Father], has stood from time immemorial. You yourself are from the everlasting past."
Psalms 93:2
However, it is not the case of Jesus. He has not always existed, and furthermore He died unlike God the Father. But of course, having been resurrected by his Father, Jesus never dies anymore nor will He die.
Jesus was generated or begotten by God his Father twice–in the beginning just before the Creation of the world and human beings, and upon being raised from the dead by his own Father. And they both created the heavens and the visible world we live in, so that one day Jesus could come to redeem us from sin through his shed blood and reconcile us to God his Father. (See Romans 5:6-11 and 2 Corinthians 5:14-21.)
"Christ [Jesus] existed before anything was created, and he is the Firstborn [of God the Father] and supreme over all creation, for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see— such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him. He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together.
"Christ [Jesus] is also the Head of the church, which is his body. He is the beginning, the Firstborn [of God the Father] and supreme over all who rise from the dead. So he (Jesus) is first in everything."
Colossians 1:15b-18
“Write this letter to the angel of the church in Laodicea. This is the message from the One who is the Amen (Jesus)—the faithful and true witness, the beginning of God [the Father]’s new creation."
Revelation 3:14
In the beginning God the Father generated Jesus to create the world together
Here is an amazing passage and revelation when Jesus -who is the Living Wisdom and Power of God (1 Corinthians 1:24)- speaks in prophecy that in the beginning He was formed by God his Father, and together created the world as well as man and woman, the Father as the Creator and Jesus as the Architect:
“The LORD [God the Father] formed me (Jesus) from the beginning, before he created anything else.
"I was appointed in ages past, at the very first, before the earth began.
"I was born before the oceans were created, before the springs bubbled forth their waters.
"Before the mountains were formed, before the hills, I was born—before he had made the earth and fields and the first handfuls of soil.
"I was there when he (the Father) established the heavens, when he drew the horizon on the oceans.
"I was there when he (the Father) set the clouds above, when he established springs deep in the earth.
"I was there when he (the Father) set the limits of the seas, so they would not spread beyond their boundaries.
"And when he marked off the earth’s foundations, I (Jesus) was the Architect at his side.
"I was his constant delight, rejoicing always in his presence.
"And how happy I was with the world he (the Father) created; how I rejoiced with the human family!"
Proverbs 8:22-31
Jesus is God's Daylight in Genesis
In the Book of Genesis chapter 1, we discover another amazing passage and revelation. It says that in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth, and this one was formless and empty, and Darkness covered the existing waters. (So it seems that something happened to the earth before, but we don't have more records of it in the Bible.) And by means of his Spirit, God made the Light exist. That powerful Daylight generated by God the Eternal Father, which came to dispel the Darkness, was in reality his beloved Son Jesus, the Living Word, and the Darkness was Satan, God’s adversary:
"In the beginning God [the Father] created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and empty, and Darkness (Satan) covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be Light,” and there was Light. And God saw that the Light (Jesus) was good. Then he separated the light from the Darkness (Satan). God called the light “day” and the darkness “night.” And evening passed and morning came, marking the first day."
Genesis 1:1-5
Jesus is God's Daylight in Psalms
In the following Psalm, the psalmist confirms to us in prophecy that Jesus, the Main Stone of the Temple of God, is also the Day that God the Eternal Father made:
"The Stone (Jesus) that the builders rejected has now become the Cornerstone. This is the Lord [God]’s doing, and it is wonderful to see. This (Jesus) is the Day the Lord [God] has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it."
Psalms 118:22-24
Jesus is God's Daylight in the Gospels
Here are more passages that confirm that Jesus is the Light and Day of God, who resisted and dispelled the Darkness and Night –Satan- in the beginning:
"The Living Word (Jesus) gave Life to everything that was created, and his Life brought Light to everyone. The Light shines in the Darkness, and the Darkness can never extinguish it. God sent a man, John the Baptist, to tell about the Light (Jesus) so that everyone might believe because of his testimony. John himself was not the Light; he was simply a witness to tell about the Light. The one who is the true Light, who gives Light to everyone, was coming into the world."
John 1:4-9
“And you [John], my little son, will be called the prophet of the Most High (God), because you will prepare the way for the Lord [Jesus]. You will tell his people how to find Salvation through forgiveness of their sins. Because of God’s tender mercy, the Morning Light from Heaven (Jesus) is about to break upon us, to give Light to those who sit in Darkness and in the shadow of death, and to guide us to the path of peace.”
Luke 1:76-79
"That day the Spirit led Simeon to the Temple. So when Mary and Joseph came to present the baby Jesus to the Lord [God] as the law required, Simeon was there. He took the child in his arms and praised God, saying, “Sovereign Lord, now let your servant die in peace, as you have promised. I have seen your Salvation (Jesus), which you have prepared for all people. He is a Light to reveal God to the nations, and he is the Glory of your people Israel!”"
Luke 2:27-32
“There is no judgment against anyone who believes in him (Jesus). But anyone who does not believe in him has already been judged for not believing in God’s one and only Son. And the judgment is based on this fact: God’s Light (Jesus) came into the world, but people loved the Darkness more than the Light, for their actions were evil. All who do evil hate the Light and refuse to go near it for fear their sins will be exposed. But those who do what is right come to the Light so others can see that they are doing what God wants.”
John 3:18-21
"Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the Light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in Darkness, because you will have the Light that leads to Life.”"
John 8:12
"Jesus shouted to the crowds, “If you trust me, you are trusting not only me, but also God [the Father] who sent me. For when you see me, you are seeing the one who sent me. I have come as a Light to shine in this dark world, so that all who put their trust in me will no longer remain in the dark.""
John 12:44-46
Jesus is God's Daylight in the letters of the Apostles
"You see, we don’t go around preaching about ourselves. We preach that Jesus Christ is Lord, and we ourselves are your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, “Let there be Light in the Darkness,” has made this Light shine in our hearts so we could know the Glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ."
2 Corinthians 4:5-6
"This is all the more urgent, for you know how late it is; time is running out. Wake up, for our Salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. The Night (Satan) is almost gone; the Day of Salvation (Jesus) will soon be here. So remove your dark deeds like dirty clothes, and put on the Shinning Armor (Jesus) of right living.
"Because we belong to the Day (Jesus), we must live decent lives for all to see. Don’t participate in the Darkness (Satan) of wild parties and drunkenness, or in sexual promiscuity and immoral living, or in quarreling and jealousy. Instead, clothe yourself with the Presence (Spirit) of the Lord Jesus Christ. And don’t let yourself think about ways to indulge your evil desires."
Romans 13:11-14
"But you aren’t in the Dark (Satan) about these things, dear brothers and sisters, and you won’t be surprised when the Day of the Lord [Jesus] comes like a thief. For you are all children of the Light and of the Day (Jesus); we don’t belong to Darkness and Night (Satan). So be on your guard, not asleep like the others. Stay alert and be clearheaded. Night is the time when people sleep and drinkers get drunk. But let us who live in the Light (Jesus) be clearheaded, protected by the armor of faith and love, and wearing as our helmet the confidence of our Salvation."
1 Thessalonians 5:4-8
"Because of that experience, we have even greater confidence in the message proclaimed by the prophets. You must pay close attention to what they wrote, for their words are like a lamp shining in a dark place—until the Day dawns, and Christ the Morning Star shines in your hearts."
2 Peter 1:19
Jesus is God's Daylight in Revelation
The Father -the Lord God Almighty- is full of his heavenly Glory, which is his own Holy Spirit; and Jesus the Lamb is the powerful Daylight that beams out from the Glory of his God and Father:
"I saw no temple in the city, for the Lord God Almighty and [Jesus] the Lamb are its Temple. And the city has no need of sun or moon, for the Glory of God (God's Holy Spirit) illuminates the city, and [Jesus] the Lamb is its Light. The nations will walk in its Light, and the kings of the world will enter the city in all their Glory. Its gates will never be closed at the end of Day because there is no Night (Satan) there. And all the nations will bring their glory and honor into the city."
Revelation 21:22-25
Jesus is the visible Image of the invisible God the Father
Jesus is the visible Image of the invisible God the Father, and the Radiance of the Glory and exact Imprint of God's Nature:
"Christ [Jesus] is the visible Image of the invisible God [the Father]."
Colossians 1:15a
"[Jesus] the Son radiates God’s own Glory and expresses the very Character (Nature) of God [the Father], and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his command."
Hebrews 1:3a
God the Father created the world through Jesus his Son
This world was created by God the Father and Creator through Jesus his Son and Architect:
"God [the Father], the LORD, created the heavens and stretched them out. He created the earth and everything in it. He gives breath to everyone, life to everyone who walks the earth."
Isaiah 42:5
"God [the Father] created everything through him (Jesus) and nothing was created except through him. The [Living] Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone.
"He (Jesus, the Light of God) came into the very world he created, but the world didn’t recognize him. He came to his own people, and even they rejected him. But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God."
John 1:3-4, 10-12
"I was chosen to explain to everyone this mysterious plan that God [the Father], the Creator of all things, had kept secret from the beginning."
Ephesians 3:9
"He (Jesus) existed before anything was created and is the firstborn and supreme over all creation, for through him God [the Father] created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He (Jesus) made the things we can see and the things we can’t see— such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him. He (Jesus) existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together."
Colossians 1:15-17
"Long ago God [the Father] spoke many times and in many ways to our ancestors through the prophets. And now in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son [Jesus]. God promised everything to the Son as an inheritance, and through the Son he created the universe."
Hebrews 1:1-2
The Father is God in Position and Jesus is God in Nature
In Greek the word "Word" is "Logos", and one of the meanings of "Logos" is Living Word or Mouthpiece. The Word "God" is "Theos", and "Theos" has different meanings: 1) "God in Position", 2) God in Nature, 3) a god. Here is a misunderstood passage which many believers use to claim that Jesus, the Living Word, is the only existing God. When in reality the word "Theos" in this verse, reading it in contex, refers first to God in Position, who is God the Father, and next refers to God in Nature, who is Jesus the Son and Mouthpiece of God his Father:
"In the beginning the Living Word (God's Mouthpiece) already existed. The Living Word was with God [in Position], and the Living Word was God [in Nature]. He (God in Nature) existed in the beginning with God [in Position]. God (the Father) created everything through him (Jesus the Son), and nothing was created except through him."
John 1:1-3
Jesus, God in Nature, was always faithful and obedient and ready to do the will of his Father, God in Position, from the beginning.
Jesus was sent to the world by his Father to fulfill his will of dying as a human living sacrifice to save us from sin and condemnation:
"So [Jesus] the Word [and God in Nature] became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only begotten Son."
John 1:14
"God (God in Position) sent his Son (God in Nature) into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him."
John 3:17
"That is why, when Christ [Jesus, God in Nature] came into the world, he said to God [his Father, God in Position], “You did not want animal sacrifices or sin offerings. But you have given me a body to offer. You were not pleased with burnt offerings or other offerings for sin. Then I said, ‘Look, I have come to do your will, O God [and Father]— as is written about me in the Scriptures.’”"
Hebrews 10:5-7
Once Jesus said in prayer that his Father was the Sovereign Lord and God in Position of all heaven and earth:
"At that time Jesus prayed this prayer [to his Father, God in Position]: “O Father, [Sovereign] Lord of heaven and earth, thank you for hiding these things from those who think themselves wise and clever, and for revealing them to the childlike. Yes, Father, it pleased you to do it this way!"
Matthew 11:25-26
Jesus is the Mouthpiece of God the Father
Jesus is the Living Word -the Mouthpiece of God his Father. He was with his Father and was sent by his Father to the world to love and speak the message of the Good News of salvation from the power of slavery to sin through his death and resurrection:
“Jesus has come from above and is greater than anyone else. We are of the earth, and we speak of earthly things, but he has come from heaven and is greater than anyone else. He testifies about what he has seen and heard, but how few believe what he tells them! Anyone who accepts his testimony can affirm that God [the Father] is true. For he is sent by God [his Father]. He speaks God’s words, for God gives him the Spirit without limit. The Father loves [Jesus] his Son and has put everything into his hands.
"And anyone who believes in God’s Son has eternal life. Anyone who doesn’t obey the Son will never experience eternal life but remains under God’s angry judgment.”
John 3:31-36
"I (Jesus) will not judge those who hear me but don’t obey me, for I have come to save the world and not to judge it. But all who reject me and my message will be judged on the day of judgment by the truth I have spoken. I don’t speak on my own authority. The Father who sent me has commanded me what to say and how to say it. And I know his commands lead to eternal life; so I say whatever the Father tells me to say.”
John 12:47-50
"We proclaim to you the one who existed from the beginning, whom we have heard and seen. We saw him (Jesus) with our own eyes and touched him with our own hands. He is the Word of Life (Living Word or Mouthpiece). This one who is life itself was revealed to us, and we have seen him. And now we testify and proclaim to you that he is the one who is eternal life. He was with the Father, and then he was revealed to us."
1 John 1:1-2
"“Who are you?” they demanded. Jesus replied, “The One I have always claimed to be. I have much to say about you and much to condemn, but I won’t. For I say only what I have heard from the One who sent me, and he is completely truthful.” But they still didn’t understand that he was talking about [God] his Father.
"So Jesus said, “When you have lifted up the Son of Man on the cross, then you will understand that I Am he. I do nothing on my own but say only what the Father taught me. And the one who sent me is with me—he has not deserted me. For I always do what pleases him.” Then many who heard him say these things believed in him."
John 8:25-30
"Don’t you believe that I am in [God] the Father and the Father is in me? The words I speak are not my own, but my Father who lives in me does his work through me. Just believe that I am in [God] the Father and the Father is in me. Or at least believe because of the work you have seen me do."
John 14:10-11
“Now I am coming to you [Father]. I (Jesus the Mouthpiece) told them (the disciples) many things while I was with them in this world so they would be filled with my joy. I have given them your Word. And the world hates them because they do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world. I’m not asking you to take them out of the world, but to keep them safe from the evil one. They do not belong to this world any more than I do.
"Make them holy by your Truth; teach them your Word, which is Truth. Just as you sent me into the world, I am sending them into the world. And I give myself as a holy sacrifice for them so they can be made holy by your Truth."
John 17:13-19
Jesus is the Prophet and Servant of God the Father
Jesus is the Prophet of God the Father that Moses talked about to the children of Israel:
"Moses said, ‘The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from among your own people. Listen carefully to everything he tells you.’ Then Moses said, ‘Anyone who will not listen to that Prophet will be completely cut off from God’s people.’"
Acts of the Apostles 3:22-23
Jesus is God's Servant that Isaiah prophesied it would come:
"But Jesus knew what they were planning. So he left that area, and many people followed him. He healed all the sick among them, but he warned them not to reveal who he was.
"This fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah concerning him: “Look at my Servant, whom I have chosen. He is my Beloved, who pleases me. I will put my Spirit upon him, and he will proclaim justice to the nations. He will not fight or shout or raise his voice in public. He will not crush the weakest reed or put out a flickering candle. Finally he will cause justice to be victorious. And his name will be the hope of all the world.”"
Matthew 12:15-21
Jesus is God's Servant that Ezequiel prophesied it would come. God the Father said to him that He will set over his people a Shepherd and Prince, his Servant David -David's descendant- to care for his flock:
"And I [the LORD God the Father] will set over them one Shepherd, my Servant David (Jesus). He will feed them and be a Shepherd to them. And I, the LORD, will be their God, and my Servant David (Jesus) will be a Prince among my people. I, the LORD [God], have spoken!"
Ezekiel 34:23-24
The apostle Peter preached once about Jesus being the Servant of God the Father:
"For it is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—the God of all our ancestors—who has brought glory to his Servant Jesus by doing this. This is the same Jesus whom you handed over and rejected before Pilate, despite Pilate’s decision to release him.
"When God [the Father] raised up his Servant, Jesus, he sent him first to you people of Israel, to bless you by turning each of you back from your sinful ways.”"
Acts of the Apostles 3:13, 26
The apostles were praying to God the Father in the name of his Holy Servant Jesus:
"When they heard the report, all the believers lifted their voices together in prayer to God [the Father]: “O Sovereign Lord [God], Creator of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them— you spoke long ago by the Holy Spirit through our ancestor David, your servant, saying, ‘Why were the nations so angry? Why did they waste their time with futile plans? The kings of the earth prepared for battle; the rulers gathered together against the LORD [God] and against his Messiah (Jesus).’
“In fact, this has happened here in this very city! For Herod Antipas, Pontius Pilate the governor, the Gentiles, and the people of Israel were all united against Jesus, your Holy Servant, whom you anointed. But everything they did was determined beforehand according to your will.
"And now, O Lord [God], hear their threats, and give us, your servants, great boldness in preaching your word. Stretch out your hand with healing power; may miraculous signs and wonders be done through the name of your Holy Servant Jesus.”"
Acts of the Apostles 4:24-30
Jesus is the powerful right Arm of God the Father
"The strong right Arm (Jesus) of the LORD [God the Father] is raised in triumph. The strong right Arm of the LORD has done glorious things!
"The Stone (Jesus) that the builders rejected has now become the Cornerstone. This is the LORD’s doing, and it is wonderful to see. This is the Day (Jesus) the LORD has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it."
Psalms 118:16, 22-24
"Who has believed our message? To whom has the LORD [God the Father] revealed his powerful Arm (Jesus)?
"My Servant (Jesus) grew up in the LORD’s presence like a tender green shoot, like a root in dry ground. There was nothing beautiful or majestic about his appearance, nothing to attract us to him. He was despised and rejected— a man of sorrows, acquainted with deepest grief. We turned our backs on him and looked the other way. He was despised, and we did not care."
Isaiah 53:1-3
"But despite all the miraculous signs Jesus had done, most of the people still did not believe in him.
"This is exactly what Isaiah the prophet had predicted: “LORD, who has believed our message? To whom has the LORD [God the Father] revealed his powerful Arm (Jesus)?”"
John 12:37-38
God the Father is the literal Father of Jesus
The apostles Paul and Peter both wrote that God the Father is the literal Father of Jesus:
"All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ. I have not stopped thanking God for you. I pray for you constantly, asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God."
Ephesians 1:3,17
"All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead."
1 Peter 1:3
Jesus is the literal Son and Heir of God The Father
God the Father loved us so much that He sent and gave us his only begotten and literal Son Jesus to save us from the curse and slavery to sin and spiritual death:
“For this is how God [the Father] loved the world: He gave his one and only begotten Son [Jesus], so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God [the Father] sent his Son [Jesus] into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him."
John 3:16-17
"God [the Father] showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only begotten Son [Jesus] into the world so that we might have Eternal Life through him. This is real love—not that we loved God [the Father], but that he loved us and sent his Son [Jesus] as a sacrifice to take away our sins."
1 John 4:9-10
The first apostles wrote in their Letters that Jesus even after his resurrection was the literal Son of God the Father. Yes, they acknowledged that He is God in Nature and their God in Office, but still the literal Son of God in Position and Father:
"So Ananias went and found Saul. He laid his hands on him and said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road, has sent me so that you might regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” Instantly something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes, and he regained his sight. Then he got up and was baptized. Afterward he ate some food and regained his strength.
"Saul stayed with the believers in Damascus for a few days. And immediately he began preaching about Jesus in the synagogues, saying, “He is indeed the [literal] Son of God [the Father]!”"
Acts 9:17-20
"My old self has been crucified with Christ [Jesus]. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in [Jesus] the [literal] Son of God [the Father], who loved me and gave himself for me."
Galatians 2:20
"So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the [literal] Son of God [the Father], let us hold firmly to what we believe."
Hebrews 4:14
"For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith. And who can win this battle against the world? Only those who believe that Jesus is the [literal] Son of God [the Father]."
1 John 5:4-5
"Grace, mercy, and peace, which come from God the Father and from Jesus Christ—the [literal] Son of the Father—will continue to be with us who live in truth and love."
2 John 1:3
Jesus is not only the literal Son of God his Father, but also his Heir:
"And now in these final days, God the Father has spoken to us through his [literal] Son [Jesus]. God promised everything to the Son as an inheritance, and through the Son he created the universe."
Hebrews 1:2
Jesus was revealed as the Son of God the Father to his disciples and the multitude
After Jesus asked his disciples who He was, God the Father in Heaven revealed to the apostle Peter that He was the Messiah, the literal Son of the Living God:
"When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” “Well,” they replied, “some say John the Baptist, some say Elijah, and others say Jeremiah or one of the other prophets.” Then he asked them, “But who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” Jesus replied, “You are blessed, Simon son of John, because my Father in heaven has revealed this to you. You did not learn this from any human being.""
Matthew 16:13-17
Jesus was revealed as the literal Son and Chosen One of God, his Father, to his disciples and to the multitude, by his baptism in water and the Holy Spirit descending from high and resting upon Him, and by shedding his blood on the cross:
"Then John [the Baptist] testified, “I saw the Holy Spirit descending like a dove from heaven and resting upon him. I didn’t know he was the one, but when God sent me to baptize with water, he told me, ‘The one on whom you see the Spirit descend and rest is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’ I saw this happen to Jesus, so I testify that he is the Son and Chosen One of God.”
John 1:32-34
"And Jesus Christ was revealed as God’s Son by his baptism in water and by shedding his blood on the cross—not by water only, but by water and blood. And the Spirit [of God], who is truth, confirms it with his testimony. So we have these three witnesses— the Spirit [of God], the water, and the blood—and all three agree."
1 John 5:6-8
God the Father, through his Spirit, gave testimony with a loud voice from Heaven to Jesus' disciples and to the multitude as well, that Jesus was his beloved Son:
"Since we believe human testimony, surely we can believe the greater testimony that comes from God [the Father]. And God has testified about his Son. All who believe in the Son of God [his Father] know in their hearts that this testimony is true. Those who don’t believe this are actually calling God [the Father] a liar because they don’t believe what God has testified about his Son [Jesus]."
1 John 5:9-10
The first time God the Father gave testimony with a loud voice was right after Jesus was baptized in water by John the Baptist:
"After his baptism, as Jesus came up out of the water, the heavens were opened and he saw the Spirit of God [the Father] descending like a dove and settling on him. And a voice from heaven said, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy.”
Matthew 3:16-17
The second time God the Father gave testimony with a loud voice was when Peter and James and John saw Jesus been glorified on the holy mountain:
"For we were not making up clever stories when we told you about the powerful coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. We saw his majestic splendor with our own eyes when he received honor and glory from God the Father. The voice from the majestic glory of God said to him, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy.” We ourselves heard that voice from heaven when we were with him on the holy mountain."
2 Peter 1:16-18
The third time God the Father bore witness with a loud voice was when Jesus asked his Father to manifest Himself to the multitude, just before his death and resurrection:
“Now my soul is deeply troubled. Should I (Jesus) pray, ‘Father, save me from this hour [of sacrifice and death]’? But this is the very reason I came! Father, bring glory to your name.” Then a voice [like the Father's] spoke from heaven, saying, “I have already brought glory to my name, and I will do so again.”
"When the crowd heard the voice, some thought it was thunder, while others declared an angel had spoken to him. Then Jesus told them, “The voice was for your benefit, not mine. The time for judging this world has come, when Satan, the ruler of this world, will be cast out. And when I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw everyone to myself.” He said this to indicate how he was going to die."
John 12:27-33
God the Father is the Head of Jesus
Jesus received full authority from his Father after his resurrection, but He kept respecting God as his literal Father in a Sonship relationship.
The apostle Paul once wrote the Father is the Head of Jesus:
"But there is one thing I want you to know: The head of every man is Christ [Jesus], the head of woman (wife) is man (husband), and the Head of Christ [Jesus] is God [the Father]."
1 Corinthians 11:3
Comparatively, the first humans were created in the image and likeness of the Father and the Son. They created them male and female with a relationship of husband and wife:
"Then God [the Father] said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us...” So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God [and his Son] he created them: male and female he created them."
Genesis 1:26-27
Eve the wife was the helpmate of Adam because she proceeded forth from her husband:
"Then the LORD God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.”
"So the LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep. While the man slept, the LORD God took out one of the man’s ribs and closed up the opening. Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib, and he brought her to the man. “At last!” the man exclaimed. “This one is bone from my bone, and flesh from my flesh! She will be called ‘woman,’ because she was taken from ‘man.’”
Genesis 2:18, 21-23
In the same manner Jesus the Son is also the Helpmate of God the Father because He was begotten and proceeded forth from his own Father:
"No one has ever seen God [the Father]. But [Jesus] the unique One and begotten Son, who is himself also God, is near to the Father’s heart. He has revealed God [the Father] to us."
John 1:18
"Jesus told them, “If God were your Father, you would love me, because I have proceeded forth and come to you from God [the Father]. I am not here on my own, but he sent me."
John 8:42
The Sonship relationship of love and authority and respect between God the Father and Jesus his Son is very similar to the marriage relationship of love and authority and respect between Adam the husband and Eve his wife.
As the Father loves Jesus his Son, and Jesus loves the church of believers, in the same manner every husband must love his wife:
"And further, submit to one another out of reverence for Christ [Jesus]. For wives, this means submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For a husband is the head of his wife as Christ [Jesus] is the head of the church [of believers]. He is the Savior of his body, the church. As the church submits to Christ, so you wives should submit to your husbands in everything. For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word."
Ephesians 5:21-26
God the Father is also the literal God of Jesus
God is not only the literal Father of Jesus, but also the literal God of Jesus, even after He resurrected from the dead.
Here is a passage in the book of Psalms and also in the letter to the Hebrews, of Jesus praying and acknowledging God his Father as his own God:
"You (the Father) take no delight in sacrifices or offerings. Now that you have made me listen, I (Jesus) finally understand— you don’t require burnt offerings or sin offerings. Then I said, “Look, I have come. As is written about me in the Scriptures: I take joy in doing your will, my God, for your instructions are written on my heart.”
Psalms 40:7-8
"That is why, when Christ [Jesus] came into the world, he said to God [the Father], “You did not want animal sacrifices or sin offerings. But you have given me a body to offer. You were not pleased with burnt offerings or other offerings for sin. Then I said, ‘Look, I have come to do your will, O God— as is written about me in the Scriptures.’”
Hebrews 10:5-7
Here is a passage of Jesus talking with Mary after his resurrection, referring to his disciples as his brothers, and to God as his Father and his God:
"“Mary!” Jesus [once resurrected] said. She turned to him and cried out, “Rabboni!” (which is Hebrew for “Teacher”). “Don’t cling to me,” Jesus said, “for I haven’t yet ascended to the Father. But go find my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’”
John 20:16-17
In Hebrews chapter 1, there is a particular passage from Psalm 45 referring to God talking to Jesus. Here God calls Jesus God in Nature, and He adds that He is the God in Position above Jesus, the God in Nature:
"But to the Son (Jesus) God (the Father) says, “Your throne, O God [in Nature], endures forever and ever. You rule with a scepter of justice. You love justice and hate evil. Therefore, O God [in Nature], your God [in Position] has anointed you, pouring out the oil of joy on you more than on anyone else.”
Hebrews 1:8-9
In the Book of Revelation, Jesus speaks to the churches and refers to the Father as his God:
"I (Jesus) am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take away your crown. All who are victorious will become pillars in the Temple of my God (the Father), and they will never have to leave it. And I will write on them the name of my God (the Father), and they will be citizens in the city of my God (the Father)—the new Jerusalem that comes down from heaven from my God (the Father). And I will also write on them my new name."
Revelation 3:11-12
God the Father never died, and no human being has seen him
God the Father never died nor can die, and lives in light so brilliant that no human being can approach him and no human eye can see -He is Immortal, Inaccessible and Invisible:
"All honor and glory to God [the Father] forever and ever! He is the Eternal King, the Unseen One who never dies; he alone is God. Amen."
1 Timothy 1:17
"For, At just the right time Christ will be revealed from heaven by the blessed and only Almighty God (the Father), the King of all kings and Lord of all lords. He alone can never die, and He lives in light so brilliant that no human can approach him. No human eye has ever seen him, nor ever will. All honor and power to him forever! Amen."
1 Timothy 6:15-16
"No one has ever seen God [the Father]. But if we love each other, God lives in us, and his love is brought to full expression in us. And God has given us his Spirit as proof that we live in him and he in us."
1 John 4:12-13
Only in the New Heaven and New Earth, God’s servants will be able to see the face of God the Father freely, as Jesus and angels do:
"No longer will there be a curse upon anything. For the throne of God (the Father) and of the Lamb (Jesus) will be there, and God's servants will worship him. And they will see his face, and his name will be written on their foreheads."
Revelation 22:3-4
Only Jesus has seen God the Father
Jesus is the only One who has access and can see God the Father:
"No one has ever seen God [the Father]. But [Jesus] the One and only begotten Son, who is himself God [in Nature], is near to the Father’s heart. He has revealed God to us."
John 1:18
"And [God] the Father who sent me (Jesus) has testified about me himself. You have never heard his voice or seen him face to face, and you do not have his message in your hearts, because you do not believe me—the one he sent to you."
John 5:37-38
"As it is written in the Scriptures, ‘They will all be taught by God [the Father].’ Everyone who listens to the Father and learns from him comes to me (Jesus). (Not that anyone has ever seen the Father; only I (Jesus), who was sent from God, have seen him.)"
John 6:45-46
Jesus died and resurrected, and was seen by his followers
On the other hand, Jesus died and resurrected to never die again, and He was accessible and visible to every human being and eye after his resurrection:
"Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said. He was seen by Peter and then by the Twelve. After that, he was seen by more than 500 of his followers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have died. Then he was seen by James and later by all the apostles. Last of all, as though I had been born at the wrong time, I also saw him.
1 Corinthians 15:3-8
"When I turned to see who was speaking to me, I saw seven gold lampstands. And standing in the middle of the lampstands was someone like [Jesus] the Son of Man. He was wearing a long robe with a gold sash across his chest. His head and his hair were white like wool, as white as snow. And his eyes were like flames of fire. His feet were like polished bronze refined in a furnace, and his voice thundered like mighty ocean waves. He held seven stars in his right hand, and a sharp two-edged sword came from his mouth. And his face was like the sun in all its brilliance.
"When I saw him (Jesus), I fell at his feet as if I were dead. But he laid his right hand on me and said, “Don’t be afraid! I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One. I died, but look—I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and the grave."
Revelation 1:12-18
God is our Father and Jesus is our Older Brother
Since Jesus had a Sonship relationship with his literal Father, our relationship with God is also similar, but at the same time different from our relationship with Jesus. In fact, as his children and heirs, we approach God as our literal Father; and as his brothers and sisters, and joint heirs, we approach Jesus as our literal Older Brother:
"And as they (the women) went, Jesus [after his resurrection] met them and greeted them. And they ran to him, grasped his feet, and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, “Don’t be afraid! Go tell my brothers to leave for Galilee, and they will see me there.”"
Matthew 28:9-10
"But when the right time came, God [the Father] sent his Son [Jesus], born of a woman, subject to the law. God sent him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law, so that he could adopt us as his very own children. And because we are his children, God [the Father] has sent the Spirit of his Son [Jesus] into our hearts, prompting us to call out, “Abba, Father.” Now you are no longer a slave but God’s own child. And since you are his child, God has made you his heir."
Galatians 4:4-7
"So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he (God the Father) adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.” For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children. And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ [Jesus] we are heirs of God’s glory. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering."
Romans 8:15-17
"For God [the Father] knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son [Jesus], so that his Son would be the Firstborn among many brothers and sisters."
Romans 8:29
Jesus is the literal Son of God the Father. Because of his sacrifice, Jesus has the power to make us holy and make us his literal brothers and sisters, and also literal children of his Father:
"God [the Father], for whom and through whom everything was made, chose to bring many children into glory. And it was only right that he should make Jesus, through his suffering, a perfect leader, fit to bring them into their salvation. So now Jesus and the ones he makes holy have the same Father. That is why Jesus is not ashamed to call them his brothers and sisters. For he said to God, “I will proclaim your name to my brothers and sisters. I will praise you among your assembled people.”
Hebrews 2:10-12
Jesus is the Bread of God the Father
Jesus is the true Bread of God the Father that came down from heaven to give life to the world:
"Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, Moses didn’t give you bread from heaven. My Father did. And now he offers you the true Bread from heaven. The true Bread of God [the Father] is the one who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.
“I am the Bread of Life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.""
John 6:32-33, 35
Jesus is the Lamb of God the Father
Jesus is the perfect Lamb sent by God the Father to be the offering for our sins to appease his wrath and make us right with Him:
"The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look! The Lamb of God [the Father] who takes away the sin of the world! He is the one I was talking about when I said, ‘A man is coming after me who is far greater than I am, for he existed long before me.’"
John 1:29-30
"For you know that God [the Father] paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And it was not paid with mere gold or silver, which lose their value. It was the precious blood of Christ [Jesus], the sinless, spotless Lamb of God [the Father]. God chose him as your ransom long before the world began, but now in these last days he has been revealed for your sake."
1 Peter 1:18-20
"Then I saw a Lamb (Jesus) that looked as if it had been slaughtered, but it was now standing between the throne and the four living beings and among the twenty-four elders.
"And they sang [to the Lamb] a new song with these words: “You are worthy to take the scroll and break its seals and open it. For you were slaughtered, and your blood has ransomed people for God [the Father] from every tribe and language and people and nation.”
Revelation 5:6a, 9
Jesus prayed to his Father to to bring Him back to Heaven
Jesus prayed to his Father before his suffering and death on the cross, asking to bring Him into the glory they both shared before the world began:
"I (Jesus) brought glory to you [Father] here on earth by completing the work you gave me to do. Now, Father, bring me into the glory we shared before the world began."
John 17:4-5
God the Father generated Jesus after his death
Jesus died on the cross as a cursed sinner without the Spirit of God his Father, and was condemned to Sheol, the grave of sinners. But God generated Him again and raised Him from the dead on the third day:
“When they had done all that the prophecies said about him (Jesus), they took him down from the cross and placed him in a tomb. But God raised him from the dead!
“And now we are here to bring you this Good News. The promise was made to our ancestors, and God [the Father] has now fulfilled it for us, their descendants, by raising Jesus. This is what the second psalm says about Jesus: ‘You are my Son. Today I have begotten (generated) and become your Father.’"
Acts of the Apostles 13:29-30, 32-33
"Through Christ [Jesus] you have come to trust in God [the Father]. And you have placed your faith and hope in God [the Father] because he raised Christ [Jesus] from the dead and gave him great glory."
1 Peter 1:21
God resurrected Jesus, and placed Him at his right hand
Jesus died on the cross for our sins, but He was resurrected from the dead by God his Father three days after his death. And right after He was exalted by God to the place of highest honor in Heaven, at God’s right hand, until the day when all his enemies will be humbled and made a footstool under his feet:
“God [the Father] raised Jesus from the dead, and we are all witnesses of this. Now he (Jesus) is exalted to the place of highest honor in heaven, at God [the Father]’s right hand. And the Father, as he had promised, gave him the Holy Spirit to pour out upon us, just as you see and hear today.
"For David himself never ascended into heaven, yet he said, ‘The LORD (the Father) said to my Lord (Jesus the Messiah), “Sit in the place of honor at my right hand until I humble your enemies, making them a footstool under your feet.”’"
Acts of the Apostles 2:32-35
"The God of our ancestors raised Jesus from the dead after you killed him by hanging him on a cross. Then God [the Father] put him in the place of honor at his right hand as Prince and Savior. He did this so the people of Israel would repent of their sins and be forgiven."
Acts of the Apostles 5:30-31
"But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, gazed steadily into heaven and saw the glory of God [the Father], and he saw Jesus standing in the place of honor at God [the Father]’s right hand. And he told them, “Look, I see the heavens opened and [Jesus] the Son of Man standing in the place of honor at God [the Father]’s right hand!”
Acts of the Apostles 7:55-56
"Who then will condemn us? No one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God [the Father]’s right hand, pleading for us."
Romans 8:34
"Since you have been raised to new life with Christ [Jesus], set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ [Jesus] sits in the place of honor at God [the Father]’s right hand."
Colossians 3:1
The Father is our God in Position and Jesus is our God in Office
The Father is our God in Position, the Almighty with full authority at all times. And his literal Son Jesus is God in Nature, and also our God in Office, the Mighty One with authority received and delegated by his Father when He rose from the dead.
God the Father is God in Position and Owner of all things. And Jesus is God in Office and Administrator of all things:
"For a child (Jesus) is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God [in Office], Everlasting Father (Shepherd), Prince of Peace. His government and its peace will never end. He will rule with fairness and justice from the throne of his ancestor David for all eternity."
Isaiah 9:6-7a
"Though Jesus was in the form of God (God in Nature), he did not think of equality with God [in Position, the Father] as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God [in Position, the Father] and died a criminal’s death on a cross.
"Therefore, God [in Position, the Father] elevated him (Jesus) to the place of highest honor and gave him the name (divine authority) above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord [and God in Office], to the glory of God the Father."
Philippians 2:6-11
"Then Jesus said to Thomas, “Put your finger here, and look at my hands. Put your hand into the wound in my side. Don’t be faithless any longer. Believe!” “My Lord and my God [in Office]!” Thomas exclaimed."
John 20:27-28
"Jesus came and told his disciples [after he was resurrected], “I have been given [by my Father] all authority in heaven and on earth."
Matthew 28:18
"We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God [in Position, the Father], while we look forward with hope to that wonderful day when the glory of our great God [in Office] and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be revealed. He gave his life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us his very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds."
Titus 2:12b-14
"I [Peter] am writing to you who share the same precious faith we have. This faith was given to you because of the justice and fairness of Jesus Christ, our God [in Office] and Savior."
2 Peter 1:1b
"But to the Son God [the Father] says, “Your throne, O God [in Office], endures forever and ever. You rule with a scepter of justice. You love justice and hate evil. Therefore, O God [in Office], your God [in Position] has anointed you, pouring out the oil of joy on you more than on anyone else.”
Hebrews 1:8-9
Jesus is God in Nature and also our God in Office because He can live in us with God the Father through the Holy Spirit:
"When I (Jesus) am raised to life again, you will know that I am in [God] my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them. And I will love them and reveal myself to each of them.
“All who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will come and make our home with each of them."
John 14:20-21, 23
We worship God the Father because He is our God in Position, and we also worship Jesus because He is our God in Office:
"And as they (the women) went, Jesus [after his resurrection] met them and greeted them. And they ran to him, grasped his feet, and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, “Don’t be afraid! Go tell my brothers to leave for Galilee, and they will see me there."
"Then the eleven disciples left for Galilee, going to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him."
Matthew 28:9-10, 16-17
"And then I (John) heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea. They sang: “Blessing and honor and glory and power belong to [God] the one sitting on the throne and to [Jesus] the Lamb forever and ever.” And the four living beings said, “Amen!” And the twenty-four elders fell down and worshiped."
Revelation 5:13-14
The Father is God Spirit, Jesus is God Man
God the Father is a Spirit. He is not a human being, but a spiritual being:
"For God [the Father] is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.”
John 4:24
Jesus was also a spiritual being in the beginning like his Father, but as God's servant He left his powerful form of God and willingly became a human being, a little lower than the angels, to save us from sin and reconcile us to God his Father. And though Jesus is God in Nature and also our God in Office, He is still a human being but with a glorious body, since He is not only the Son of God, but also the Son of Man. He is literally God Man:
"So [Jesus] the Living Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of [God] the Father’s One and only begotten Son [-Jesus]."
John 1:14
"But Jesus was silent and made no reply. Then the high priest asked him, “Are you the Messiah, the Son of the Blessed God?” Jesus said, “I am [the Son of God the Father]. And you will see the Son of Man (Jesus) seated in the place of power at God [the Father]’s right hand and coming on the clouds of heaven.”"
Mark 14:61-62
"For in Christ [Jesus] lives all the [substantial] fullness of God [the Father] in a human body. So you also are complete through your union with Christ [Jesus], who is the Head over every ruler and authority."
Colossians 2:9-10
"What we do see is Jesus, who for a little while was given a [human] position “a little lower than the angels”; and because he suffered death for us, he is now “crowned with glory and honor.” Yes, by God [the Father]’s grace, Jesus tasted death for everyone.
"Because God [the Father]’s children are human beings—made of flesh and blood—, [Jesus] the Son also became flesh and blood (human being). For only as a human being could he die, and only by dying could he break the power of the devil, who had the power of death. Only in this way could he set free all who have lived their lives as slaves to the fear of dying."
Hebrews 2:9, 14-15
"You know the generous grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Though he was rich (glorified in heaven), yet for your sakes he became poor (human), so that by his poverty (human condition) he could make you rich (glorified)."
2 Corinthians 8:9
"There is one God [-the Father-] and one Mediator who can reconcile God [the Father] and humanity—the Man Christ Jesus. He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone. This is the message God gave to the world at just the right time."
1 Timothy 2:5-6
"And he (Stephen) told them, “Look, I see the heavens opened and [Jesus] the Son of Man standing in the place of honor at God [the Father]’s right hand!”"
Acts of the Apostles 7:56
"For he (God the Father) has set a day for judging the world with justice by the man he has appointed (Christ Jesus), and he proved to everyone who this is by raising him from the dead.”
Acts of the Apostles 17:31
"When I turned to see who was speaking to me, I saw seven gold lampstands. And standing in the middle of the lampstands was someone like [Jesus] the Son of Man."
Revelation 1:12-13
God the Father and Jesus are both 'King of kings and Lord of lords'
God the Father and Jesus have the same attribute and authority of 'King of all kings and Lord of all lords'. Jesus received this authority when He was raised from the dead by his Father and placed him in the place of honor at his right hand:
"The King (Jesus the Anointed One) proclaims the LORD [God]’s decree: “The LORD [God] said to me (Jesus), ‘You are my son. Today I have generated you and become your Father. Only ask, and I will give you the nations as your inheritance, the whole earth as your possession. You will break them with an iron rod and smash them like clay pots.'""
Psalms 2:7-9
"The LORD [God] said to my Lord [Jesus the Messiah], “Sit in the place of honor at my right hand until I humble your enemies, making them a footstool under your feet.”
Psalms 110:1
"Jesus came and told his disciples [after he was resurrected], “I have been given [by my Father] all authority in heaven and on earth."
Matthew 28:18
"I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ [Jesus] from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God [the Father]’s right hand in the heavenly realms. Now he is far above any ruler or authority or power or leader or anything else—not only in this world but also in the world to come. God [the Father] has put all things under the authority of Christ [Jesus] and has made him head over all things for the benefit of the church."
Ephesians 1:19-22
"For, at just the right time Christ [Jesus] will be revealed from heaven by the blessed and only almighty God [the Father], the King of all kings and Lord of all lords. He alone can never die, and he lives in light so brilliant that no human can approach him. No human eye has ever seen him, nor ever will. All honor and power to him forever! Amen."
1 Timothy 6:15-16
"Together they (the ten horns and the beast) will go to war against the Lamb (Jesus), but the Lamb will defeat them because he is Lord of all lords and King of all kings. And his called and chosen and faithful ones will be with him.”
Revelation 17:12-14
"From his mouth came a sharp sword to strike down the nations. He (Jesus) will rule them with an iron rod. He will release the fierce wrath of God [the Father], the Almighty, like juice flowing from a winepress. On his robe at his thigh was written this title: King of all kings and Lord of all lords."
Revelation 19:15-16
Jesus will submit and deliver the Kingdom to his Father
God the Father gave full divine authority of God in Office to Jesus to act with the same power as God his Father. He gave it to Him after He fulfilled his mission on Earth and was raised from the dead, and told Him that He would rule over every name that exists until the day his Father puts all his enemies under his feet, at the end of the thousand years of Christ's reign on Earth. (See Psalms 2 and 110, and Revelation chapter 20.)
After that millennium, the Scriptures say that the Lord Jesus will willingly submit and deliver the Kingdom to God his Father, so that He will be the Supreme God over all things in the New Heaven and the New Earth. (See Revelation chapter 21.) :
"After that the end will come, when Jesus will turn the Kingdom over to God the Father, having destroyed every ruler and authority and power.
"For Christ [Jesus] must reign until he humbles all his enemies beneath his feet. And the last enemy to be destroyed is death. For the Scriptures say, “God [his Father] has put all things under his authority.” (Of course, when it says “all things are under his authority,” that does not include God himself, who gave Christ his authority.)
"Then, when all things are under his authority, the Son will put himself under God’s authority, so that God [the Father], who gave his Son [Jesus] authority over all things, will be utterly Supreme over everything everywhere."
1 Corinthians 15:24-28
The Father–the Lord God Almighy–, and Jesus–the Lamb–are both worshiped by everyone
In the Book of Revelation, the Lord God Almighty who sits on the throne is in fact God the Father. The Lamb is Jesus the Son who is also seated and standing on the throne at the right hand of his Father. And both of them are praised and worshiped by everyone:
"Grace and peace to you from [God the Father] the one who is, who always was, and who is still to come; from the sevenfold [Holy] Spirit before his throne; and from Jesus Christ [the Lamb]. He is the faithful witness to these things, the first to rise from the dead, and the ruler of all the kings of the world. All glory to him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by shedding his blood for us. Jesus has made us a Kingdom of priests for God his Father. All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen."
Revelation 1:4-6
"Those who are victorious will sit with me (Jesus) on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat with [God] my Father on his throne."
Revelation 3:21
"Then I saw a scroll in the right hand of the one who was sitting on the throne (God the Father). There was writing on the inside and the outside of the scroll, and it was sealed with seven seals.
"Then I saw a Lamb that looked as if it had been slaughtered (Jesus), but it was now standing between the throne and the four living beings and among the twenty-four elders. He had seven horns and seven eyes, which represent the sevenfold Spirit of God that is sent out into every part of the earth. He (Jesus) stepped forward and took the scroll from the right hand of the one sitting on the throne (God the Father). And when he took the scroll, the four living beings and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb."
Revelation 5:1, 6-8a
"After this I (John) saw a vast crowd, too great to count, from every nation and tribe and people and language, standing in front of the throne and before [Jesus] the Lamb. They were clothed in white robes and held palm branches in their hands. And they were shouting with a great roar, “Salvation comes from our God [and Father] who sits on the throne and from [Jesus] the Lamb!”"
Revelation 7:9-10
"Then I saw [Jesus] the Lamb standing on Mount Zion, and with him were 144,000 who had his name and his Father’s name written on their foreheads."
Revelation 14:1
"I saw no temple in the city, for the Lord God Almighty (the Father) and [Jesus] the Lamb are its temple. And the city has no need of sun or moon, for the glory of God [the Father] illuminates the city, and [Jesus] the Lamb is its light."
Revelation 21:22-23
Jesus is the Mediator and High Priest of God the Father
God the Father designated Jesus his Son to be the Mediator who reconciles us to the Father:
"Jesus told him, “I am the Way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to [God] the Father except through me."
John 14:6
"Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God [the Father] because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory.
"God [the Father] showed his great love for us by sending Christ [Jesus] to die for us while we were still sinners. And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation. For since our friendship with God [the Father] was restored by the death of [Jesus] his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of [Jesus] his Son. So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God [the Father] because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God [the Father]."
Romans 5:1-2, 8-11
"For God [the Father] in all his [substantial] fullness was pleased to live in [Jesus] Christ; and through him (Christ), God [the Father] reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross.
"This includes you who were once far away from God [the Father]. You were his enemies, separated from him by your evil thoughts and actions. Yet now he has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ [Jesus] in his physical body. As a result, he (the Father) has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault."
Colossians 1:19-22
"And all of this is a gift from God [the Father], who brought us back to himself through Christ [Jesus]. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him. For God [the Father] was in Christ [Jesus], reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation."
2 Corinthians 5:18-19
"He (Jesus) brought this Good News of peace to you Gentiles who were far away from him, and peace to the Jews who were near. Now all of us can come to [God] the Father through the same Holy Spirit because of what Christ [Jesus] has done for us."
Ephesians 2:17-18
"There is one God (the Father) and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the Man Christ Jesus. He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone."
1 Timothy 2:5-6
Jesus is also the High Priest who constantly intercedes for us before God the Father:
"We also know that [Jesus] the Son did not come to help angels; he came to help the descendants of Abraham. Therefore, it was necessary for him to be made in every respect like us, his brothers and sisters, so that he (Jesus) could be our merciful and faithful High Priest before God [the Father]. Then he could offer a sacrifice that would take away the sins of the people. Since he himself has gone through suffering and testing, he is able to help us when we are being tested."
Hebrews 2:16-18
"Even though Jesus was God’s Son, he learned obedience from the things he suffered. In this way, God [the Father] qualified him as a perfect High Priest, and Jesus became the Source of Eternal Salvation for all those who obey him. And God [the Father] designated him to be a High Priest in the order of Melchizedek."
Hebrews 5:8-10
"But because Jesus lives forever, his priesthood lasts forever. Therefore he is able, once and forever, to save those who come to God [the Father] through him. Jesus lives forever to intercede with God [the Father] on their behalf. He is the kind of high priest we need because he is Holy and blameless, unstained by sin. He has been set apart from sinners and has been given the highest place of honor in heaven."
Hebrews 7:24-26
"But now Jesus, our High Priest, has been given a ministry that is far superior to the old priesthood, for he is the one who mediates for us a far better covenant with God [the Father], based on better promises."
Hebrews 8:6
"So Christ [Jesus] has now become the High Priest over all the good things that have come. He has entered that greater, more perfect Tabernacle in heaven, which was not made by human hands and is not part of this created world. With his own blood—not the blood of goats and calves—he entered the Most Holy Place once for all time and secured our redemption forever. With his own blood—not the blood of goats and calves—he entered the Most Holy Place once for all time and secured our redemption forever.
"Under the old system, the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer could cleanse people’s bodies from ceremonial impurity. Just think how much more the blood of Christ [Jesus] will purify our consciences from sinful deeds so that we can worship the living God [the Father]. For by the power of the eternal Spirit, Christ [Jesus] offered himself to God [the Father] as a perfect sacrifice for our sins. That is why Jesus is the one who mediates a new covenant between God [the Father] and people, so that all who are called can receive the eternal inheritance God [the Father] has promised them. For Christ [Jesus] died to set them free from the penalty of the sins they had committed under that first covenant."
Hebrews 9:11-15
"Who then will condemn us? No one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God [the Father]’s right hand, pleading for us [to the Father]."
Romans 8:34
Jesus is the Living Cornerstone of God’s Holy Temple
God the Father made Jesus the Living Cornerstone of his Holy Temple:
"You are coming to Christ [Jesus], who is the Living Cornerstone of God’s [Holy] Temple. He was rejected by people, but he was chosen by God [the Father] for great honor.
"As the Scriptures say, “I (the Father) am placing a Cornerstone in Jerusalem, chosen for great honor, and anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced.”
1 Peter 2:4, 6
Jesus made us living stones and holy priests for God our Father
Jesus, the Living Cornerstone and the Lamb, made us living stones of God's Holy Temple, and holy priests to constantly pray to God our Father through Jesus' Spirit in us:
"Together, we are God’s house, built on the foundation of the apostles and the prophets. And the [Living] Cornerstone is Christ Jesus himself. We are carefully joined together in him, becoming a holy temple for the Lord. Through him (Jesus) you Gentiles are also being made part of this dwelling where God [the Father] lives by his [Holy] Spirit."
Ephesians 2:20-21
"You are coming to Christ [Jesus], who is the Living Cornerstone of God’s temple. He was rejected by people, but he was chosen by God [the Father] for great honor. And you are living stones that God [the Father] is building into his spiritual temple. What’s more, you are his holy priests. Through the mediation of Jesus Christ, you offer spiritual sacrifices that please God."
1 Peter 2:4-5
"And you [Jesus the Lamb] have caused them to become a Kingdom of priests for our God [the Father]. And they will reign on the earth."
Revelation 5:10
God the Father will resurrect and judge every human being through Jesus
God the Father has chosen Jesus his Son as the One who will judge the living at his coming, and even resurrect and judge the dead at the end of his kingdom on Earth:
“But when the Son of Man (Jesus) comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit upon his glorious throne. All the nations will be gathered in his presence, and he will separate the people as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will place the sheep at his right hand and the goats at his left."
Matthew 25:31-33
“And I (Jesus) assure you that the time is coming, indeed it’s here now, when the dead will hear my voice—the voice of the Son of God. And those who listen will live. The Father has life in himself, and he has granted that same life-giving power to his Son. And he (God the Father) has given him (Jesus) authority to judge everyone because he is the Son of Man."
John 5:25-27
"And he (Jesus) ordered us to preach everywhere and to testify that Jesus is the one appointed by God [the Father] to be the judge of all—the living and the dead."
Acts 10:42
"For he (God the Father) has set a day for judging the world with justice by the Man (Jesus) he has appointed, and he proved to everyone who this is by raising him from the dead.”
Acts 17:31
"For we must all stand before Christ [Jesus] to be judged. We will each receive whatever we deserve for the good or evil we have done in this earthly body."
2 Corinthians 5:10
"I solemnly urge you in the presence of God [the Father] and Christ Jesus, who will someday judge the living and the dead when he comes to set up his Kingdom…
"And now the prize awaits me—the crown of righteousness, which the Lord [Jesus], the righteous Judge, will give me on the day of his return. And the prize is not just for me but for all who eagerly look forward to his appearing."
2 Timothy 4:1, 8
"You, too, must be patient. Take courage, for the coming of the Lord [Jesus] is near. Don’t grumble about each other, brothers and sisters, or you will be judged. For look—the Judge is standing at the door!"
James 5:8-9
Getting to know God and Jesus is the way to Eternal Life
Before his death, Jesus honored his Father in prayer saying that He was the Eternal Life, and that the way to have Eternal Life is in getting to know his Father, the only true God, and also Jesus himself, whom the Father had sent:
“Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son so he can give glory back to you. For you have given him authority over everyone. He gives Eternal Life to each one you have given him. And this is the way to have Eternal Life—to know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth."
John 17:1-3
John the Apostle wrote that Jesus is Eternal Life, and that through Him we must have fellowship with God the Father and with His Son Jesus:
"And now we testify and proclaim to you that he (Jesus, the Living Word) is the one who is Eternal Life. He was with the Father, and then he was revealed to us. We proclaim to you what we ourselves have actually seen and heard so that you may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ."
1 John 1:2b-3
"So you must remain faithful to what you have been taught from the beginning. If you do, you will remain in fellowship with the Son and with the Father. And in this fellowship we enjoy the Eternal Life he promised us."
1 John 2:24-25
"Anyone who wanders away from this teaching has no relationship with God [the Father]. But anyone who remains in the teaching of Christ [Jesus] has a relationship with both the Father and the Son."
2 John 1:9
In the following passage the apostle John explains that Jesus, who is Eternal Life, came to give us Life and also understanding so that we can know his Father, the True God in Position:
"And this is what God [the Father] has testified: He has given us Eternal Life, and this Life is in his Son [Jesus]. Whoever has the Son has [Eternal] Life; whoever does not have God’s Son does not have [Eternal] Life.
"And we know that the Son of God (Jesus) has come, and he has given us understanding so that we can know the true God [in Position, the Father]. And now we live in fellowship with the true God [in Position, the Father] because we live in fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ. He (the Father) is the only true God [in Position], and he (Jesus) is Eternal Life."
1 John 5:11-12, 20
We must pray to God the Father in Jesus' name
Jesus told his disciples that once they receive the Holy Spirit they will pray directly to God the Father in his name:
"At that time you won’t need to ask me (Jesus) for anything. I tell you the truth, you will ask the Father directly, and he will grant your request because you use my name. You haven’t done this before. Ask, using my name, and you will receive, and you will have abundant joy."
John 16:23-24
Once Jesus' disciples received the Holy Spirit, they were able to pray directly to God the Father in the name of Jesus:
"When they (Jesus' disciples) heard the report, all the believers lifted their voices together in prayer to God [the Father]: “O Sovereign LORD [God], Creator of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them…
"Now, LORD [God], hear their threats, and give us, your servants, great boldness in preaching your word. Stretch out your hand with healing power; may miraculous signs and wonders be done through the name of your holy servant Jesus.” After this prayer, the meeting place shook, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. Then they preached the word of God with boldness."
Acts of the Apostles 4:24, 29-31
Because we have received Jesus' Holy Spirit in our hearts, we must now pray to God the Father in the name of Jesus:
"And because we are his children, God [the Father] has sent the Spirit of his Son [Jesus] into our hearts, prompting us to call out, “Abba, Father.”"
Galatians 4:6
We believers must now thank God the Father in the name and authority of the Lord Jesus:
"And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ."
Ephesians 5:20
"And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father."
Colossians 3:17
WHO IS THE HOLY SPIRIT?
Throughout the Scriptures we notice an important and accentuated role of God the Father and Jesus the Son of God. But then, who is the Holy Spirit and what role does he play?
The word "spirit" comes from the Latin word "spiritus." The word in Hebrew is "ruach", and in Greek is "pneuma"–and it means breath, breath, air, wind, energy. It is in fact the spiritual body of every living being.
The Holy Spirit is the very own Spirit of God the Father and Jesus
If we study the Scriptures thoroughly and in context, the Holy Spirit is not another person or being, but nothing more and nothing less than the very own Spirit of God the Father and his Son Jesus:
"“No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God [the Father] has prepared for those who love him.” (Isaiah 64:4) But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets. No one can know a person’s thoughts except that person’s own spirit, and no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit. And we have received God’s Spirit (not the world’s spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God [the Father] has freely given us."
1 Corinthians 2:9-12
"But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the [Holy] Spirit if you have the Spirit of God [the Father] living in you. (And remember that those who do not have the Spirit of Christ [Jesus] living in them do not belong to him at all.) And Christ [Jesus] lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit [of Jesus] gives you life because you have been made right with God [the Father]. The Spirit of God [the Father], who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God [the Father] raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same [Holy] Spirit living within you."
Romans 8:9-11
The Holy Spirit is the Glory and Presence and Power of God the Father and Jesus
The Holy Spirit is the divine Glory, the holy Presence and the miraculous Power of God the Father and his Son Jesus, which emanate out of them from Heaven so that both can live in us here on Earth.
Here are some Bible verses about the divine Glory of God:
"All around him (God the Father) was a glowing halo, like a rainbow shining in the clouds on a rainy day. This is what the Glory of the LORD [God] (God's Holy Spirit) looked like to me. When I saw it, I fell face down on the ground, and I heard someone’s voice speaking to me."
Ezekiel 1:28
"Then the Glory of the LORD [God] rose up from above the cherubim and went over to the entrance of the Temple. The Temple was filled with this cloud of Glory, and the courtyard glowed brightly with the Glory of the LORD [God]."
Ezekiel 10:4
"If you are insulted because you bear the name of Christ, you will be blessed, for the Glory of God, which is his [Holy] Spirit, rests upon you."
1 Peter 4:14
"I saw no temple in the city, for the Lord God Almighty (the Father) and the Lamb (Jesus) are its temple. And the city has no need of sun or moon, for the Glory of God [the Father] illuminates the city, and the Lamb (Jesus) is its Light."
Revelation 21:22-23
Here are some Bible verses about the holy Presence of God:
"I can never escape from your [Holy] Spirit! I can never get away from your Presence! If I go up to heaven, you are there; if I go down to the grave, you are there. If I ride the wings of the morning, if I dwell by the farthest oceans, even there your hand will guide me, and your strength will support me."
Psalms 139:7-10
"No wonder my heart is glad, and I rejoice. My body rests in safety. For you (God) will not leave my soul among the dead or allow your holy one to rot in the grave. You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your Presence and the pleasures of living with you forever."
Psalms 16:9-11
Here are some Bible verses on the miraculous Power of God:
“And now I will send the Holy Spirit, just as my Father promised. But stay here in the city until the Holy Spirit comes and fills you with Power from heaven.”
Luke 24:49
"But you will receive Power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Acts 1:8
"This is the message of Good News for the people of Israel—that there is peace with God [the Father] through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all. You know what happened throughout Judea, beginning in Galilee, after John began preaching his message of baptism. And you know that God [the Father] anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with Power. Then Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God [the Father] was with him."
Acts 10:36-38
"Yet I dare not boast about anything except what Christ [Jesus] has done through me, bringing the Gentiles to God [the Father] by my message and by the way I worked among them. They were convinced by the power of miraculous signs and wonders and by the Power of God’s Spirit. In this way, I have fully presented the Good News of Christ from Jerusalem all the way to Illyricum."
Romans 15:18-19
"And my message and my preaching were very plain. Rather than using clever and persuasive speeches, I relied only on the Power of the Holy Spirit. I did this so you would trust not in human wisdom but in the power of God."
1 Corinthians 2:4-5
The indwelling Holy Spirit of God the Father in Jesus
Jesus didn't say that He was God the Father. But He said if the disciples were seen him, they were seen also the Father, because the substantial nature or Holy Spirit of his Father was fully in him:
"Philip said, “Lord, show us [God] the Father, and we will be satisfied.” Jesus replied, “Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and yet you still don’t know who I am? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father! So why are you asking me to show him to you. Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me [through the Holy Spirit]? The words I speak are not my own, but my Father who lives in me does his work through me.""
John 14:8-10
"For Jesus is sent by God [the Father]. He speaks God’s words, for God gives him the [Holy] Spirit without limit. The Father loves his Son and has put everything into his hands."
John 3:34-35
"This is the message of Good News for the people of Israel—that there is peace with God [the Father] through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all. You know what happened throughout Judea, beginning in Galilee, after John began preaching his message of baptism. And you know that God [the Father] anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Then Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God [the Father] was with him."
Acts 10:36-38
"For God [the Father] in all his [substantial] fullness was pleased to live in [Jesus] Christ; and through him (Christ), God [the Father] reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross."
Colossians 1:19-20
"For in Christ [Jesus] lives all the [substantial] fullness of God [the Father] in a human body. So you also are complete through your union with Christ [Jesus], who is the head over every ruler and authority."
Colossians 2:9-10
Jesus never said that He was God the Father but the Son of God the Father, the One who set him apart and sent him. He said He was doing the works of his Father because of the indwelling Spirit of the Father in him, which allowed him to be completely united with his Father who is in Heaven:
"Why do you call it blasphemy when I (Jesus) say, ‘I am the Son of God’? After all, [God] the Father set me apart and sent me into the world. Don’t believe me unless I carry out my Father’s work. But if I do his work, believe in the evidence of the miraculous works I have done, even if you don’t believe me. Then you will know and understand that the Father is in me, and I am in the Father.”
John 10:36-38
In fact, Jesus was saying time and time again that the very person of God the Father was permanently in Heaven, and that He was just the Messiah, the 'Anointed One,' who God anointed and sent on his behalf to save the world from the power of sin through his sacrifice:
"And don’t address anyone here on earth as ‘Father,’ for only God in heaven is your Father. And don’t let anyone call you ‘Teacher,’ for you have only one teacher, the Messiah (the Anointed One)."
Matthew 23:9-10
Jesus even said once that the only truly good and perfect One is God the Father himself:
"As Jesus was starting out on his way to Jerusalem, a man came running up to him, knelt down, and asked, “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” “Why do you call me good?” Jesus asked. “Only God [the Father] is truly good."
Mark 10:17-18
In fact, God the Father was never tempted to do wrong and will never be. Jesus instead was tempted in all things, yet He never fell into sin:
"And remember, when you are being tempted, do not say, “God is tempting me.” God [the Father] is never tempted to do wrong, and he never tempts anyone else."
James 1:13
"So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God [the Father], let us hold firmly to what we believe. This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for Jesus faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin."
Hebrews 4:14-15
The substantial nature of God’s Holy Spirit
The prophet Isaiah described the substantial nature of God’s Holy Spirit, and Jesus received the fullness of it for his mission on Earth:
"Out of the stump of David’s family will grow a shoot—yes, a new Branch (Jesus) bearing fruit from the old root. And the [Holy] Spirit of the LORD [God] will rest on him (Jesus)—the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the LORD [God]."
Isaiah 11:1-2
"The scroll of Isaiah the prophet was handed to Jesus. He unrolled the scroll and found the place where this was written: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, and that the time of the Lord’s favor has come.”"
Luke 4:17-19
The Holy Spirit is the sevenfold Spirit that emanates out of God the Father and Jesus in Revelation
The Holy Spirit is the very powerful sevenfold Spirit that emanates out of God the Father and his Son Jesus, and is sent out into the Earth:
"From the throne [of God the Father] came flashes of lightning and the rumble of thunder. And in front of the throne were seven Torches with burning flames. This is the sevenfold [Holy] Spirit of God."
Revelation 4:5
"Then I saw a Lamb (Jesus) that looked as if it had been slaughtered, but it was now standing between the throne and the four living beings and among the twenty-four elders. He had seven Horns and seven Eyes, which represent the sevenfold Spirit of God that is sent out into every part of the earth."
Revelation 5:6
The Holy Spirit is the very own Spirit of Jesus
Jesus had to go first to his Father in Heaven to be able to enter in his Glory and be sent back to us, to be able to dwell in us and with us through the Advocate, which is his own Holy Spirit:
"On the last day, the climax of the festival, Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds, “Anyone who is thirsty may come to me! Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’” (When he said “living water,” he was speaking of the [Holy] Spirit, who would be given to everyone believing in him. But the [Holy] Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet entered into his glory.)"
John 7:37-39
“But now I am going away to [the Father] the One who sent me, and not one of you is asking where I am going. Instead, you grieve because of what I’ve told you. But in fact, it is best for you that I go away, because if I don’t, the Advocate (Jesus' Holy Spirit) won’t come. If I do go away, then I will send him to you.
“There is so much more I want to tell you, but you can’t bear it now. When the [Holy] Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future. He will bring me glory by telling you whatever he receives from me. All that belongs to the Father is mine; this is why I said, ‘The [Holy] Spirit will tell you whatever he receives from me.’"
John 16:5-7, 12-15
Jesus spoke of himself over and over again in the third person. (See John 9:35-38.) In fact, the Holy Spirit is the very own Glory or Spirit of Jesus. And through the Holy Spirit, God the Father and Jesus will live in us and with us forever:
“And I (Jesus) will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you. No, I will not abandon you as orphans—I will come to you. Soon the world will no longer see me, but you will see me. Since I live, you also will live.
"When I (Jesus) am raised to life again, you will know that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them. And I will love them and reveal myself to each of them. All who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will come and make our Home with each of them."
John 14:15-21, 23
Jesus is completely filled with the Holy Spirit of God his Father and speaks the Words of truth of his Father. And through the Holy Spirit, Jesus is united with the Father, and we are united with Jesus and He with us:
“I am praying [to you Father] not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me through their message. I pray that they will all be one [in unity], just as you and I are one [in unity]—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me.
“I have given them the Glory (the Holy Spirit) you gave me, so they may be one as we are one. I am in them and you are in me. May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love me."
John 17:20-23
The indwelling Holy Spirit of Jesus in us
When we repent and die with Christ in the baptism in water, God the Father sends Jesus' Holy Spirit to live in us and with us, so that we may have the freedom to love and serve God the Father, and follow Jesus and his commandments:
"Or have you forgotten that when we were joined with Christ Jesus in baptism, we joined him in his death? For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives.
"And since we died with Christ [Jesus], we know we will also live with him. We are sure of this because Christ was raised from the dead, and he will never die again. Death no longer has any power over him. When he died, he died once to break the power of sin. But now that he lives, he lives for the glory of God [the Father]. So you also should consider yourselves to be dead to the power of sin and alive to [love and serve] God [the Father] through Christ Jesus.
Romans 6:3-4, 8-11
"But when the right time came, God [the Father] sent [Jesus] his Son, born of a woman, subject to the law. God sent him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law, so that he could adopt us as his very own children. And because we are his children, God [the Father] has sent the Spirit of [Jesus] his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, “Abba, Father.” Now you are no longer a slave but God’s own child. And since you are his child, God [the Father] has made you his heir."
Galatians 4:4-7
"My old self has been crucified with Christ [in the baptism in water]. It is no longer I who live, but [the Spirit of] Christ [Jesus] lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me."
Galatians 2:20
"But whenever someone turns to the Lord [Jesus], the veil is taken away. For the Lord [Jesus] is the [Holy] Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the Glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the [Holy] Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious Image."
2 Corinthians 3:16-18
The unity of the believers through the Holy Spirit
We are also united with each other as a body through Jesus' Holy Spirit:
"Together as one body, Christ [Jesus] reconciled both groups to God [the Father] by means of his death on the cross, and our hostility toward each other was put to death. He brought this Good News of peace to you Gentiles who were far away from him, and peace to the Jews who were near. Now all of us can come to [God] the Father through the same Holy Spirit because of what Christ [Jesus] has done for us."
Ephesians 2:16-18
"Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace. For there is one body and one [Holy] Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future."
Ephesians 4:3-4
The Roots, the Tree, the Branches and the Sap
Here is a good illustration to help us to better understand what is the place and function of the Father, and the Son, and us believers, and the Holy Spirit:
• GOD the FATHER is like the deep Roots hidden from view of a great tree.
• The LORD JESUS is like the strong and beautiful Tree in the sight of all.
• WE BELIEVERS are like the visible Branches attached to the visible Tree (Jesus).
• And the HOLY SPIRIT is like the inner Sap or living substance that comes and emanates from the invisible Roots (God) to the visible Tree (Jesus) and to the visible Branches (us believers).
In Summary
We pray that this Bible study has opened the eyes of your spirit and helped you to see the error of the prevalent false teachings in mainstream Christianity about the Godhead.
The Bible doesn't mention in any place about a Trinitarian Godhead of "one God and three eternally coexisting and coequal beings, with different roles”, and neither about a Unitarian Godhead of “one God and one eternally existing being with three different forms and roles.”
All Scripture points to a Binitarian or Dualistic Godhead of one eternally existing God–the FATHER–, and of one eternal Lord–his literal Son and Mouthpiece JESUS, begotten (or generated) at some point in eternity before the creation of the Heavens and the Earth. He is in fact the wisdom and power of God his Father, and They both created the world. (See Proverbs 8:22-31; John 1:1-5; 3:31-35; 17:1-5; 20:7; Romans 16:27; 1Corinthians 1:9, 24, 30; 3:21-22; 8:6; 11:3; Ephesians 1:17; Colossians 2:15-17; 1Thessalonians 1:9-10; 1Timothy 2:5; Hebrews 1:1-9; 1John 1:1-3; 2John 1:3; Revelation 5:13; 21:22.)
The Holy SPIRIT is the very Spirit of God the Father and of the Messiah (Romans 8:9-10). In fact, it is the eternal and glorious nature and the holy presence and miraculous power of the Father and the Son, which was sent to every part of the Earth and poured out on us born again believers. (See Exodus 33:14; Ezekiel 36:27; Joel 2:28-29; Matthew 18:20; Luke 24:45-49; John 4:23-24; 14:16-21; 17:20-26; 20:19-22; Acts 1:8; 2:16-21, 32-33, 38-39; Romans 8:9-17; 1Corinthians 2:9-12; 2Corinthians 3:16-18; Galatians 2:20; 4:4-6; Ephesians 1:17; Philippians 1:19; 1John 2:1; Revelation 3:1; 4:3-5; 5:1-7)
We can see the immense love that God the Father has towards his literal Son Jesus, whom He begot and gave the same divine attributes as him. We can also see the immense love of God the Father towards us in sending us and giving us his only begotten Son as a sacrifice, for the redemption of our sins and our reconciliation with God, so that He could pour out on us his own Spirit full of heavenly and unfailing love.
We pray that you too can deeply understand and receive the immense love of our Heavenly Father that He pours into our hearts selflessly, through faith and obedience to his only Son Jesus, and through the power of his glorious Holy Spirit, which is in fact his own spiritual presence. (See John 17:22-26; Romans 5:1-5; 2Corinthians 2:13-14.)
May the peace and grace of God our Father and Jesus our Lord be with you. □
